At Collie Rescue of the Carolinas, our primary concern is the health and welfare of dogs that come through our program. CRC cannot promise the collie applied for will still be in rescue when the application process is complete.
Requirements:
CRC does require a fully enclosed fenced yard that connects to the house, no invisible fencing or dog lots.
The collie must be allowed inside as collies are very social and want to be a part of the family.
We realize there are good homes for Collies in states other than the Carolinas and have no objections to out of state adoptions. However when a match is made, the prospective adopter must be willing to travel to North Carolina to meet the Collie and take him or her home if a good fit. We will work very closely during the adoption process. We do not transport the collies.
Please be patient with our application process, there are only one or two people who review applications on a daily basis. These individuals are volunteers and have families, jobs and pets of their own also.
Adoption fee is $375.00 with special consideration for Collies seven years or up. Includes spay or neuter, routine shots, heartworm check and preventative, flea prevention, worming, grooming and a six month supply of heartworm preventative.
After receiving the application, the vet reference will be checked to verify that current pets are up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm preventatives. If they are not, then the application will be automatically denied. Applicant will be interviewed in their home by a volunteer in the area.
Once this process is complete, we will work to match you with a dog that is right for your family, or we’ll place you on a waiting list. At the time of adoption a contract must be completed and signed.
We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if, in our judgment, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of a collie or if the breed is not suitable for the applicant.
